More scribblism

The Accident 5"x 7" ink and watercolor

Microscribblic 7" x 5" ink and watercolor

What can I say about these except that I am indulging all of my artistic impulses.  I've got to feed the muse!

The first one remained unfinished for a long time.  I began the "eruption" part and stopped before it became too regular and did not know what to do next.  Then, wouldn't you know, I had a dream.  In the dream I drew or made a ruler-straight segment with irregular notches in it.   Extending from the segment came a pipe-like structure that curved.  I knew I would have to use it somewhere, and last night I realized that this was the place.  Then I finished it up.

The second I drew a while back, and resisted coloring it. I still resist. I like it in black and white.  I was thinking of my oldest son's laboratory - he's a chemical engineer, working on his doctorate.  (Oh, sorry, that sounded like bragging and paternal pride - how on earth did that slip in?!)

  1. So smart of you to follow a dream. I like both pieces. That is no surprise as I do a lot of detailed work. I love to hear you bragging about your kids.

  4. Both of these are AWESOME!!! I love 'The Accident'. Your colors and composition are pure quality. It's one of my all time favorites of yours Dan. It doesn't look overworked and it flows beautifully. It could hang in any museum.
I also love your black and white microscribblic- it's wonderful. The black and white works.

You brag away! You have a lot to be proud of in your son. Congratulations on all his hard work!

    1. You are always bubbling with enthusiasm! Thank you for calling it museum quality. I like that. I could see a larger version next to a Miro in a museum, uhum. ;)

  6. Love these! the top one I thought at first it was part of a floor plan (it has a wonderful architectural feel to it) but it has structure that becomes free. Really neat. The second one sings to me, its full of notes and movement, again very neat and I like seeing how you work with lines and shapes.
Thank you for stopping by my last post, I never thought everyone can see my blog as a dot (I thought it was how I just see it as its on my profile)... Ugh, now its driving me bonkers and I been trying to figure out how to change that.

Great work & post Dan, and I hope your summer so far is as good!

    1. I'm glad you like them, Mari. I appreciate that you do all different sorts of things, with the photography, and the painting and the printmaking, so you understand the need to vary your work. Yours is a winning dot, as far as I am concerned. And a dot, don't forget, means "sold"! Thanks!

  7. What interesting objects coming partially from dreams - aren't those the best? Love the black and white, too - it looks like something growing in petri dish - hope it doesn't get out and take over the world!! ha ha
    Have a wonderful week.

  12. Photo Canvas Collage prints are the ideal way to display lots of your stunning images without buying masses of bulky picture frames or cluttering up the house. With the use of smartphones and readily available digital cameras, we have become a nation of amateur photographers, using Instagram to capture our favourite moments. Out of this we now have some incredible photographs we are sure to treasure forever; the problem is there are just too many of them, making the task almost impossible when
choosing images to display in our homes
